Why are the seasons reversed below the equator?

south of the equator, i heard that it's summer there right now and during june/july, it's winter there and it snows. why is that?

Why are the seasons reversed below the equator?
because the earth is tilted
Reply:Because of the axis of the earth not the rotation but the axis

example put a pole through the earth so as to make a top as the top spins it will woble as it wobbles the northern hemisphear is further away from the sun than the southern being further away we get less light and there for we have winter the exact opisite goes for the southern hemisphere
Reply:Because when the northern hemishere is angled towards the sun, the south pole is angled away from it, and vice versa. This 23.5 degree inclination of the planet relative to the plane of the orbit around the sun is the cause of the seasons. All the extra light the north gets in the summer is light the south does not get, so north has a summer when the south has a winter.

The charts in the attached link are quite descriptive.
Reply:it is winter because when the earth is tilted away from the sun, the rays are not as concentrated and so the hemisphere is colder...

the other end of the earth is thus tilted toward the sun, and the rays are more concentrated and the earth is warmer.
Reply:the tilt of the earths axis... its 23.5 degrees i believe. Right now though they are getting the direct rays from the sun and we are not... Did you know the sun is actually closer to the earth when its winter here.... The earth's axis will shift and then we will have the direct sunlight when its summer here.
Reply:tilted axis of earth

If your landlord is forced to sell house in divorce, does the tennant have any rights and what are they?

Our landlord tells us we have nothing to worry about but he then brought a realtor to the home in question, along with his soon to be ex wife, and later told us that he has to put the house on the market for 90 days to appease his wife and then he will buy her share out. I do not want to be surprised with a 30-day notice in December and be forced to move in the snow and ice. What are our rights as our lease is good through June of 2007. If the house is placed on the market, does that void the lease so we can move if we choose to with no repsonsibility for remainder of the lease? Can we get our deposit back?

If your landlord is forced to sell house in divorce, does the tennant have any rights and what are they?
Check your lease and see what the early termination is on your landlords side. If there isn't anything, which more than likely there isn't then you should be good until June of 07. However if he really has no choice but to sell it, not just put it on the market, then you should be compensated for breach of contract. Call a real estate attorney in your area and see what the law is in your state. They will be better equipped to answer this question for you.
Reply:Yes you are in trouble, ask to landlord to place in the sale your right o continue under the lease. If the house is on the market in 90 days it ,may be 6 month sto a year unil the sale is final

How long is your lease anyay?
Reply:First of all you have a contract that is good until June of 2007 you are protected under contract law and under your state's landlord tenant act. Providing that the lease does not cancell upon the sale of the propery, when and if they sell the house whomever buys must be disclosed to of the fact that the property comes with a tenant and a contract and such a contract must be assigned by the seller to the new buyer or the seller must make a deal with you to either buy you out or notify you that he/she is assigning the lease to a new owner (if allowed on the lease) You need to go to your state's web site and check under Landlord tenant laws so that you can see all the rules and regs that apply in your case and if the state offers any assistance to you in the event of a dispute.

Buena Suerte
Reply:the landlord is entitled to sell the property. when the property sells so does the existing lease on the property, so your lease would transfer to the new owner. The new owner or current owner can still give you a 30 day notice to vacate prior to the expiration of your lease. If you are looking for security I would go ahead and move, and absorb the fees for opting out of my current lease. more than likely you will not get your deposit back
Reply:If the lease says he can give you 30 day notice to move for what reasons set out in the lease there's your answer...

Ever thought about becoming a Home Owner? Might be a good time as your already in the home and know all the problems it has etc????
Reply:I don't know about your state, but in California, the new owner has to honor the lease. Spend a few bucks and record the lease at the county clerk's office so that it is public knowledge and it shows up in a title search.

Regards
Reply:go to your local library and check out a book on "tenant -landlord rights" for your area. The book should answer all your questions and have forms you can copy and instruction on how to file them Good Luck
Reply:Once again, NewMexico is right. Usually, if the house is placed on the market or sold, that is not enough to void the lease. You have a contract that runs with the land. That means that the new owner can't kick you out and your obligation to the new owner is the same as it would have been to the old owner.

Your state's landlord/tenant laws will describe how to get your deposit back. Either the sale of the property will include a transfer of your deposit to the new owner or the old owner will return your deposit when the property sells and the new owner will demand that you pay him a deposit. Either way, don't expect to spend the money until after you move out.
Reply:Check out your contract. The deposit is yours as long as rent was always on time and there was no damage. He can't hold your responsible since he's breaking the agreement on his end.

(Unless the new owner is allowing your stay)

Since it snowed here in Calgary yesterday, will we now be rewarded with a long, hot summer starting June 1?

...and lasting until the end of September? Maybe every day 20+ degrees, 30 days of 30+ degrees and 10 days of 35+ degrees? And showers and spectacular thunderstorms only at night?

Sounds fair, doesn't it?

Since it snowed here in Calgary yesterday, will we now be rewarded with a long, hot summer starting June 1?
It snowed!....we have a drought here.

When is the best time to visit Glacier National Park, and/or Banff and Jasper?

Is a trip in late May or early June too early to visit these national parks? Will there be too much snow, will roads be closed, or will snow banks be too high to enjoy the scenery? Is it better to visit in July or August?

When is the best time to visit Glacier National Park, and/or Banff and Jasper?
Best time to visit Glacier depends on what you are looking for. May and September are good times for people to visit who don't like a lot of crowds or families with children. June is the best month to see early spring, and the waterfalls are at their best. July is probably the best time to visit to see Glacier in all it's glory...wildflowers abound and waterfalls are still in abundance. The Park is at it's busiest from July 4th through Labour Day.

The Going to the Sun Road is the major road in Glacier, and typically opens the first part of June. This road is a must see, and best enjoyed in the Park's fleet of Red Buses. Due to heavy flooding and avalanches this fall, the National Park Service has already issued a statement that the Going to the Sun Road will not open until July 1st at the earliest in 2007.

I would imagine a similar visitation schedule in Banff and Jasper.

In any case, you MUST visit Glacier....it is my favorite Park!
Reply:I lived in Montana for two years and Glacier doesn't even open until Memorial Day. I would head up no earlier than mid June.

Can I sell my house like it is or should I wait until later to sell it?

My house is in need of a roof but its January here = snow and yuck.I am pretty sure a roofing co. won't work on it until its warmer. Can I try to sell it like it is or should I wait until March or April ? Plus I am expecting a baby in june - should I wait until after its born?

Can I sell my house like it is or should I wait until later to sell it?
I think you should wait. The housing market is terrible right now and having to disclose a roof problem would probably mean a buyer is more likely to choose a home without a roof problem to make an offer on. You can always offer your home for sale with a $15k credit back to the buyer for a new roof, but even so.. I would still wait. If you can, hanging on to your home right now would be better because of this crazy market we are experiencing.. it isn't supposed to improve until 2009. Hope this helps. Best Wishes!
Reply:A roofing company can work most of the year - in fact, you can often get a better price, because alot of people don't like to have roofs put on. If it gets up to about 40, most shingles will seal properly.

There are more buyers in the spring, but the people in the market now are more serious (less door kickers). I would try to sell before the baby is born - can you imagine trying to show the house with an infant wailing?
Reply:You can sell the home as is. But do not expect top dollar for your home.

You can also sell the home with a new roof to be placed after the snow and rains stop. It is called a due bill just like when you buy a used car and want somethi9ng done to it.

The money will stay in escrow to be paid to the roofing company. Of just deduct it from the sell. You have the option. Congrats on your new born to come.

I've had my braces on my teeth since June of 2003. I am having more a problem getting to my orthodontist cuz..

Because with my insurance.... Medicaid.......no other orthodontist CLOSER won't accept my insurance.....so my orthodontist is like 2 hours away...and my mom has to bring me cuz I can't drive due to vision problem. I am back at college now...and with her work schedule, It's not going to work. Plus the snow will be here in no time.

I am happy with how straight my teeth are now. A LOTTTTTT better than they were!

Do you think I should get them removed when I make an appointment??

I've had my braces on my teeth since June of 2003. I am having more a problem getting to my orthodontist cuz..
Discuss it with the orthodontist.
Reply:Seems like you should have had your braces adjusted or tightened since 2003; that's why they put them on your teeth. I don't think I could stand them on my teeth for four years.

They don't work by themselves. They have to be looked at periodically.

Is it true about the flood coming in the summer of 2008?

I know there has been a record breaking snow fall amount in wisconsin. I live in the area of IL/MO. i heard that this summer (around June or July) all that snow that they have gotten will flood and is all coming this way! and we are going ot have another flood like the flood of 1993! is this true? it kinda makes since with the amountof snow fall the north has gotten!

Is it true about the flood coming in the summer of 2008?
You're overexaggerating on this. The entire eastern seaboard got dumped with snow all winter long, but it's already starting to melt with no flooding. It's a gradual melt so there won't be any flooding.

Has global warming stopped? I ask this question because it's May almost June and it's not even as warm as it

should be.

It bright, sunny, clear blue sky and there hasn't been any snow in almost two months yet it feels just like the beginning of October.

Has global warming stopped? I ask this question because it's May almost June and it's not even as warm as it
The overall global average temperature peaked in 1998, and has shown a general cooling since then. It is not known if this trend will continue, or for how long. The Earth's climatology is very dynamic, and we have only a fairly basic understanding of the factors involved. Much of the problem with model projections is the inherent errors caused by insufficient data, and how much weight should be put on individual factors withthin those models.
Reply:Global warming has become a political tool --mainly of the left...

Sure, global warming is TRUE. But its a slow and steady progession over hundreds and hundreds of years. Every time we have a hot stretch or bad storm everyone is screaming about gloabal warming. But when its 52 degrees on may 20 no one seems to care. I remember summers from my childhood being much warmer then summers later.
Reply:where are you talking about? I live in manchester, England and it has been 30 degrees (C) this week! its never that hot! Its been boiling. I dont think its stopped! haha

The earth been warming up since the ice age dont think it will stop for a loooong while .....
Reply:You can never judge climate change based on one day, cold or hot or even a season. Climate change occurs over a long period of time. Even climate change can change and it is hard to quanitfy.
Reply:Stay tuned. I wouldn't say that one observation means global warming has stopped.
Reply:Weather is not the same as climate.

Snow and Ski Trip?

Hello All,

I live on the gold coast, QLD and have never seen snow, so this year i want to go to the snow but dont know where to start, i would like to know

1. best way to get there Plane, bus or car?

2.whats the best place to stay what resort or town and travel in?

3. do they have everything for rent?

4. and idea what prices cost for skis,

5 do most people stay for 3 day, 5days? or what

6. im thinking of going in early june is that ok

Thanks a million guys

Snow and Ski Trip?
1. Fly to Sydney or Melbourne and take a package trip. Look for beginners ski packages online. they usually provide transport to the snow, accommodation and meals. Some will include ski hire, lessons and lift passes. There are plenty of options.

2. Accommodation will be covered by the package.

3. All equipment is for hire including some clothing but check with the resort before you go. You will need lessons and lift passes too. Budget for them if they are not covered in your package.

4. Everything to do with skiing is expensive. Hire your equipment the first time and buy later if you intend making it a regular event.

5. Don't go for less than five days on your first trip. It will take some time to learn the basics and then you want to enjoy yourself.

6. If you want snow, go in August or July but not June. Don't go during the school holidays.
Reply:Scotland and Austria,Both have great skiing,You can get there by plane,You can rent the ski,s and ski boots.

The best time to go is from late October up to The end of April.

You will need a ski lift pass,And it will cost £125 for 7 days.

The ski/ski boot hire is £75 for 7 days.

You will be better off with a package holiday that includes all the necessary equipment in the price of your holiday,It will also include the cost of beginner,s ski lessons
Reply:Colorado has alot of places

I have only gone skiing once in my life

in missouri, they have a pretty good place there

called snow creak, all fake snow though since there normally isnt very much snow.

go to colorado if you want the real deal
Reply:take a plane

What is the best ski resort in New Zealand for Working Holiday?

I am moving to New Zealand in June for a Working Holiday. I figured since I'm going to catch the winter there, I may as well work at a ski resort. I live in Aspen, Colorado, so I'm not expecting to be amazed by the ski conditions; I want a mountain with the best mix of snow and nightlife... Kiwi or otherwise. Any suggestions?

What is the best ski resort in New Zealand for Working Holiday?
Either Queenstown or Wanaka. Both have multiple ski fields in the area. Both are full of travellers and young people and have good nightscenes. Queenstown in particular has a reputation as a party town. Beware because Queenstown is VERY expensive to live in, they have a problem with finding enough cheap accommodation for seasonal workers. I've heard (from one of my tourism lecturers) that some hotels will hire people in, say, Christchurch or even Auckland and fly them to the hotels and back each week because it is cheaper to fly them in than give them a room on their days off!
Reply:the remarkables, or treble cone, maybe coronet peak. they are all in the queenstown/wanaka area
Reply:Queenstown, all the way. As you also intend to work, you'll find that place really good. It's abuzz with opportunity, and nightlife is amazing there.

Is it good to visit Australia at the end of May?

My family and I will visit Australia at the end of May until June. It's my first time and I wonder if the weather will be good at this time when we get there. We're going to Sydney for sightseeing and we're going to swim in the Bordi beach there because we want to try it for our first time. Anyone, is there storms, snow, or any bad weather at this time? What is the average temperature in Australia in May and June? Also, were going to Gold Coast for more swimming in the beach. In fact, unfortunately our plans are fixed and we cannot changed it. Also, this is the only vacation time available for us. We have no idea what the weather in Australia is like and we only knew the weather in the US. Anyone, help inform me about the weather in Australia.

Is it good to visit Australia at the end of May?
If you want information on weather patterns in Sydney have a look at this website:

http://www.auinfo.com/sydney-climate.htm...

Do not worry about storms or wild weather, we get that kind of stuff usually around January!

If you want snow, you will have to go to the Snowy Mountains, about a 4-5 hour drive south from Sydney. Snow is just starting to fall there now. In the dead of winter, some snow falls in the Blue Mountains, but it is rare.

If you are planning on going swimming at Bondi at the end of May, I would recommend getting your hands on a wetsuit. Otherwise you will freeze! The Goldcoast will be great for swimming though.

You will have a wonderful time in Australia. There are plenty of other things to do in Sydney besides swimming. You can climb the harbour bridge, there's heaps of shopping, restraunts etc, go to Darling Harbour, China Town, Botanical Gardens. You can take a day trip to the blue mountains or the hunter valley (wine counrty). Have a meal at the top of centerpoint tower, go to Luna Park, ride on the monorail, catch a ferry to manly or the rivercat to parramatta, visit sydney aquarium or the powerhouse museum or Taronga Zoo. There is so much to do!

You can also buy what's called a Sydney Smartvisit card which allows access to a lot of tourist attractions. Get more information here:

http://www.seesydneycard.com/index.jsp?a...

For more ideas have a look at this website:

I hope this has helped you. You will have a great time here!
Reply:it will be a bit cold to swim at bondi at that time of year but no snow not sure about the storms they are unpredictable but i doubt there will be any worth worrying about.. im sure you will love sydney ... theres so much to see and do ... you will have some fun in the water at the gold coast.. QLd is known as the sunshine state and it's usually warm up there at this time of year.. our summer starts in december . have a great holiday in our beautiful counrty :)
Reply:hi i am from melbourne - im a flight attendant so have travelled extensivley around australia. May and June is very cold for us but our july and august are our snow months. it doesnt snow everywhere like in the states it only snows in the mountains. u should be fine in them months. Gold coast can experience bad storms but the temperature will be alot nicer ranging from 20 - 27 degrees. definately go and see the theme parks - u can get a 3 day superpass for the 3 parks from around $150 AUD i think. the water park is actually called wet n wild! if ur a fan of big brother on tv u can actually go to live shows at dreamworld during that time as our big brother starts tomorrow night! a must see is melbourne though best city in Australia!!! hope this helps!!
Reply:the Gold Coast will be nice at that time of year mid to low 20s c though can get a bit of rain at times . sydney will be cooler could even be cold as you are coming at the start of our winter so could be too cold for that swim at bondi beach . what a shame . plenty of other things to see and do though just not a good time for swimming .
Reply:Austrailia is exactly the opposite of the United States. They are going into there winter months as we enter into our spring. The summer over there is December.
Reply:Hi, you are visiting Australia during their winter season! So you will be expecting temperature ranging from below 20 deg C in the day and below 10 at night! So do be prepared. Especially in Sydney. Sometimes you can even get snowfall. Anyway, there are nice sites to visit around Sydney, pretty scenic too. And I guess it will great time to try the Australian wines in the cold weather.

The Gold Coast and Bondi Beach, well, will be a little chilly too, even if they are further up north. Probably you may want to think about visiting the theme parks there like Sea World, Dream World and Water World. Hmm, forget Water World. And the casino in Brisbane.
Reply:I lived in Sydney for 3 years. At the end of May unti June is winter time in Sydney. But winter in Sydney is not so cold like in US and the temperature around 10 degree Celcius. If you like to go to the beach it's better for you at the end of October until February. The beaches are so good and clean. Many beaches you can go. Bondi beach is always pack with people during summer time. Sydney has nudist beach if you like to go having full suntan. I missed Sydney alot.

Can anyone help me locate the impossible to locate?

My wife and I are due in June with our first child. She is a huge White Sox fan and I wanted to suprise her with a White Sox snow suit for the baby (when he is 6/18+ months old). Problem is, I darn near wore my mouse out searching for one. Would anyone have the slightest clue as to where I might be able to find one? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Darren.

Can anyone help me locate the impossible to locate?
its hard to find a baseball one because baseball is a summer sport, best thing to do would be to get a generic snowsuit and get it embroidered with the logo. good luck!

When should I seed and fertilize my lawn?

It's October and I don't know what I should do to make sure my lawn comes back after winter. The sod was placed both in June and in late September but I don't know how to seed it or how to fertilize it properly because I've never lived in a place with a real winter season (snow!) Some areas of the grass is turning brown, but other areas are super green.

When should I seed and fertilize my lawn?
It depends on the type of lawn. Most lawns rebound after harsh climates, frosts, heat etc. personally i have found with santa anna couch grass, the best time to fertilize is early spring. but before fertilizing, if you want the perfect lawn, you must scarify (Cut right back), dethatch (remove the horizontal runners above the surface), core (a machine that puts small holes in the lawn to allow water and nutrients right to the roots), followed up with a top dress of a clean sandy loam and fertilizer that is high in nitrogen. water every day and within 1-2 weeks it will be magic. same process will work with pretty much all creeping lawns.
Reply:Scotts 2 + 2. It is higher of nigrogen for the uncoming cold winter and go to sleep when it snows. It also kills the weeds from the winter rains and before spring. Spring you want Scotts turf builder. Be carefull not too much nigrogen when stopping or overlaping with the spreader or you will burn it.
Reply:Sounds like you have a hybrid bermuda grass. It will go dormant during the cold season. If It is bermuda you shoud not fertilize in winter...However you need to use "winterizer for grass" This will help the root system of your grass so that it will look good when spring times comes around. Ask for it at your nearby nursery store be sure to take a clump of grass and ask them what kind of grass do I have.

If you have cool season grass such as kentucky blue grass or fescue then it needs to be fertilized once per month during the cold season months. And you should also use "winterizer" in early winter.

You should use perennial rye for over seeding bermuda grass. Since bermuda goes dormant in winter the rye will look green in the winter...giving you that year round green grass look. No need to overseed winter type grass unless you use the same type of grass for bare spots.
Reply:Use seed and fertilizer/food together. The "er" months are (September-December) the best time to plant grass and water it, in the Mid-west. (Obviously don't water if your sprinkler will freeze.) Grass flourishes in cool moist conditions. Also, grass is hardy, it will come back nice and green in spring. Once the winter has broke, start back up with the seed and fertilizer/food. You'll have an awesome lawn. Your local lawn and garden center can help you determine the best seed and food for your region and the time of year. Good luck!

Would I be foolish to drive to Vermont in December?

I am planning a trip to Vermont over Christmas. I was originally planning on flying but would need to rent a car (very expensive if under 25) I am now thinking about driving instead. How would road conditions be during the Christmas holiday. I live in Florida and am not used to driving in snow that much. (I did however drive from Montreal to Boston when I was 17 in January. ( I have also made the FL to VT trip in June, but of course that is totally different.

Is this a really bad idea? Are the roads covered in snow? Should I just suck it up and pay to fly?

Thanks!

Would I be foolish to drive to Vermont in December?
i live in fl, and i drove in snow one time, and in december mostly ur ok, but if u have a bad day ur not gonna wanna do it, itll have freezing rain and beein from fl, ur gonna have more problems than u can deal with, cause im shure u dont wanna mess up ur car, it may be more expensive for the rental, but if u fly jet blue into burlington ur air fair will be really good
Reply:It's really hard to say. Last year we didn't get much snow, so it wouldn't be an issue. But this year, who knows?
Reply:I would just fly. If you are familiar with the New England weather, you know it can change in 10 minutes time. We might not have any snow then or we could have 3 feet. If you aren't experienced that much will driving in snow, then I wouldn't do it. You also have the other states to travel through that get snow and not all states are able to get the roadways cleared as fast and efficiently as us "Yankees". Seriously as you said suck it up and fly. Jet Blue does have some decent rates as stated.
Reply:Depends on where you're going in VT. If you come up the western side of the state (Route 7) you should be in good shape. We don't really get significant snowfalls until January. December is typically a dry month. And yes we do have snow plows and they do a good job keeping up with any snow that does fall. However, if you're going into the mountains there are some roads they do close for the winter. In the mountains it snows by November so those roads can sometimes have some snow on them.

I worked as an independent contractor from January - June. The company hired me full-time from June - December (where I still am).

I also did snow-plowing on the side from January - March.

Do I separate all of the writeoffs or put them all together? How?

I had 3 jobs in 2007. 2 were as employees, 1 was as an indepdent contractor. Separate writeoffs? How?
you put them all together on sch A.

you will need sch C or C-EZ and sch SE for the idependent contractor work you did.

then all of the last numbers of those forms go on 1040.
Reply:Any allowable expenses that you have for your contractor work will go on your schedule C with the income from that work.

If you have any allowable unreimbursed employee business expenses for the time when you worked as an employee, they'd go on a form 2106 and then onto your schedule A if you itemize, otherwise they are not deductible.

If your snowplowing job was not as an employee, you'd show that income and any associated allowable expenses on a separate schedule C than your other contractor work

What is the highest elevation that is safe to hike in the Colorado Rockies?

It's early June and I am itching to go fly fishing in the high alpine lakes and streams. I can look out my window and see that the peaks (Indian Peaks) are still covered with snow. Is it safe to hike and fish above 12,000' this time of year? How high could I possible go without snowshoes? How deep is the snow on the peaks? Are there any online resources that track this type of data? Thank you for your attention.

What is the highest elevation that is safe to hike in the Colorado Rockies?
I would imagine by now most of the higher lakes are ice free. snow this time of year is hard in the morning so you shouldn't need snowshoes, besides most of the better fishing is done way lower than 12,000 feet, if you can see the indian peaks you are near denver or boulder, that means you have many options for fly fishin %26amp; you ought to be able to fish pretty much anywhere by now, though the rivers %26amp; streams might still be a bit high for the best fishin.

When is the best time of year to do a motorcycle tour of Scotland?

I am planning a tour around the Scottish coast and Highlands .As I will be going on my motorcycle, I don`t really fancy travelling in rain or snow!!! I have so far penned this in for June. What time of year is usually best (ie, least rain) for a bike trip around Scotland

When is the best time of year to do a motorcycle tour of Scotland?
Try these people for some info. I am using Reuthers them to do a Route 66 in 2009 and their site is good

Friend of mine did the Highlands starting at Inverness and finishing at the base of Ben Nevis. He travelled right up to the very edge of the Scottish Highlands and says that it was beyond belief. I think you are looking at the best time of year June/July but unfortunately the Great British weather cannot always be relied upon to be on our side. Hope you enjoy your trip and ride safe and enjoy. Do you need a co rider. Would be pleased to join you. Should have the new Harley 1st July.
Reply:you should be OK from June onwards but you can not even guarantee weather in England in June, done Scotland a few times on bike it is absolutely fantastic, the weather is not that bad it tends to pass quiet quick , good water proofs its no problem, west coast is the best to ride up,

for pics of our tour look in pics 1 on our site,http://www.teamsobermcc.com/

to read what went on go to our forum look in rally reviews,

Reply:Any summer month but don't plan ahead, wait until the weather forecast is good and go for it otherwise with Scotland especially the west coast or you can be disappointed as few biking things are worse than a wet ride.
Reply:Scotland has a rugged attractive West coast and it's best toured by sea.

I wouldn't tour Scotland by motorbike unless your bike floats.

Why not tour Hungary or Romania. The weather is better, so is the food, architecture, and the people are friendly. That would be quite an adventure.
Reply:I'm 13, so I dnt know much about motorbikes, but I DO know about Scotland's unreliable weather! So I'd say u should stick with June - its your best bet, coz u could get soaked in May, or it could be too hott in july!!!

Gd luck!
Reply:june to sept is the best time

most of the time if theres a speed trap van theres a temperary sign put out which is fair
Reply:If you don't like rain or snow why go to Scotland? Try South Africa. The weather is fantastic, the roads are either good or interesting and the scenery is unbelievable. Start in Cape Town ride up the garden route, cut inland to Joburg thru the Free State and then ride out towards the Kruger Park. You can spend a week there riding the Sabie Hazyview road and thru Kouwyns Pass and other great riding roads. Careful of Sabie Hazyview. It's a big balls road.
Reply:The only difference is in the summer the rain is warmer!

Don't think you'll encounter much snow in June, we're not that far north.

Bring a camera with plenty of film/memory as you will taking photos of all the magnificent views.
Reply:July or August, it may be a wee bit busier, but our weather is usually better then.
Reply:Hiya. the wether in scotland is pretty diabolical at the best of times. Have been several times. but only once on a bike. Got soaked, and spent the week listening to locals telling me what great weather they had the previous week. Scenery is unbeleivable though, and some of it is probably best seen in the mist and rain. Have a good time
Reply:i lived in boat of garten in the highlands for two years you can start riding up there from end of april till september
Reply:I'd say never as it's always raining up there. But I suppose July or August would be the best time
Reply:I did this in February 1996 on my Diversion 900.

Probably the best tour I have ever done.

The north and west coast are incredible.

Fishermen's missions are good for lunch time stops.

Roads are narrow in the highlands and fuel can be 50 miles away, so top up when you can.

I used the SYHA for accomodation, even stopping at a castle for 2 nights.
Reply:June, July, August, are pretty good months for travelling by bike (lots of sunshine and blue skies, at least where we are on the southeast coast). But we have had some great weather in September last year, too.

The way things are going I should think you will fine in June.

Hope you have a great time, the countryside and wildlife of Scotland is spectacular.

Good luck.

LIBERAL DEMOCRATS: What Happened to Your Global Warming?

At this rate, it will be snowing in June. What is it like to be a Lib, come up with a cause, and then have the whole thing blow up in your face within a month? LMAO.

LIBERAL DEMOCRATS: What Happened to Your Global Warming?
It's coming my little lying troll. Soon you'll not be able to deny.
Reply:Global warming references Higher temperatures at the poles. This in turn cause climate changes due to altering currents and salinity (salt) levels in the oceans that cause the oceans to get warmer and changes weather paterns. It doesn't mean everywhere gets warmer. So, it's probably better if you understand the facts before you comment.
Reply:How disconnected from reality does one have to get before being retired to a rubber room?
Reply:Well, my dear your scientific process is flawed. Scientists A) believe in that extremes in weather are indicative of global warming B) are unsure of exactly how the effects of global warming will manifest itself in terms of climate. So a snow storm in April after record highs in April/March are an example of two extremes. Remember snow does not mean that global warming is a farce.
Reply:idiots, we only have about 150 years of recorded temperature data, you cant base eonic weather pattern conclussions based on such limited data, open your eyes people, its teh toic du jour, theres $ to be made, wht hapened to the ozone problem or the forests in SA? no longer profitable, what a bunch of morons
Reply:Global warming is a theory based on scientific fact.

It will happen in the future, not today.
Reply:You just asked this question last night.
Reply:Global Cooling took over.

Reply:You obviously have no understanding of noisy systems. I would hate to see your investment strategy when the stock market has one good day.
Reply:The South West is in the worst drought in history. Check your newspaper.
Reply:Remember is a GLOBAL problem.

Snowing where? The Alps and the Pirineos are suffering because of the limited snow.
Reply:When are you going to come up with something half 'intelligent'?

On the other hand, I suppose Global Warming is not a factor if one lives under a rock.
Reply:You obviously don't have a clue what your talking about global warming has been proven by scientists. Secondly it's not unheard of for it to be cold in Spring it not prove that global warming is not true. Also you conservative types are so stubborn you don't have any profe that it is not true all you have is Bush's word and he is an idiot and don't tell me he represents the majority of America because he was only elected out of formality Gore really won. Also you need to try getting your facts strait before you try proving something wrong just because your an idiot doesn't mean that other itteligent scientist are.
Reply:Did you pass sixth grade science? Climate is not weather.
Reply:It fried your brain....
Reply:Nothing blew up. The average temperature of the atmosphere increases. The polar ice caps begin to melt. The release of fresh water from the ice decreases the salinity of the oceans. The main ocean currents are weakened so warm water doesn't circulate north or south from the equator. Hence, global warming will most likely result in another ice age. Neat, huh? Think of it as the planet's immune system trying to rid it of the human virus.
Reply:Huh? Did you fail your 6th grade Earth Science class, or what? Get a clue! You obviously don't understand the differences between "weather" and "climate". Apparently, your understanding of global warming is also very limited, at best.

Furthermore, you think it's ONLY liberals who understand, and will be affected by, global warming? Are you, and the rest of the ostriches with heads in the sand, moving to Mars or something? Earth is our home. Taking care of our home is a human issue. It has nothing to do with politics, despite the fact that you've allowed the pundits to convince you otherwise.
Reply:actually now global warming means extreme cold weather
Reply:I dont believe in global warming, but it snowing in june has nothing to do with this scare tactic.

the increase in greenhouse gases leads to the warming of the earth's surface which in turn causes the irregular weather. also the rise in sea level.

if you dont understand it, just find out more and then make an assumption.
Reply:Gay sex by Republicans cause Snow to melt in DC
Reply:according to your people ( republicans ) you beleive we should just pollute the earth and not worry about the negative results.

typical anti environment republican.
Reply:HAHAHA You think snowing in June is normal and you think that global warming is blowing up in someone else's face? HAHAHAHA
Reply:I don't get it,

do you not believe in global warming at all, or you just don't believe humans are causing it?

Can con fascist flat earthers make up their minds or do they just have trouble with scientific facts?

How many "snow" days have you had so far this year?

How many do you get before you have to make them up in June?

How many "snow" days have you had so far this year?
only 1 this year before today. Now we've a winter storm with snow and ice. One of those dangerous ones for here (So. Illinois). Snow with a slow freezing rain. It's truly a wonder filled world outside. There are trees dressed in transparent coats of ice, popping and groaning. The power's been knocked off twice already. Traffic has slowed to practilly non-existant.
Reply:It has been years since we had a snow day.
Reply:I like in the south so there is no snow days. =( We get ice sometimes but rarely get snow.
Reply:well they let us out of work early one day but we don't have to make it up and they paid us for it.
Reply:Zero. We don't get snow days at work.
Reply:Zero =(

I hope we have one today though! It's snowing a bit, and I heard it's going to be sleet soon, then rain.
Reply:I think just one since a lot of our snow fell over Christmas vacation and they (husband and kids) were already out of school anyway. I think there are enough "built-in" snow days that they still get out of school at the normal time. BTW, I've had two days I've gotten to go home early from work due to the electricity being out.

What's a good exotic location for me to stop in??

If I'm travelling return Montreal, Canada to Perth Australia.

What location would a plane/airline automatically stop over in - so it doesn't add much $$$ onto my plane ticket - I would like to keep it less than $3,500 return! I'm traveling in June.

I like:

-Snow.

-Sun.

-Diving.

-Shopping.

-Skying.

What's a good exotic location for me to stop in??
If you fly Singapore Airlines, you get a free stop in Singapore- it's a wonderful, very exotic place. Air New Zealand will give you a stop in Auckland, which is also great. Thai Airways and Japan Airlines (but I'm not sure of their destinations in Australia or if they even fly from Monteal) have connections in Thailand and Japan, respectively. All very exotic and fun places- enjoy :)
Reply:If you fly Air New Zealand, you get a free stop in Auckland, if you fly Singapore airlines (pacific portion), you get free stop in SIN. Going to Perth, you can either connect in southeast asia, or enter Aussie at Sydney then on to Perth. You want exotic? Bali and Fiji are nice but you don't get those trips as free stop-overs.
Reply:Fly from YUL to Vancouver by Air Canada and then from there to Perth by Qantas. Vancouver be quite a fun, I believe. Lots of shopping, sun, sand %26amp; sea activities and that all within yr budget. Try it.

How cold does it get in melbourne, australia in june, july, august?

also, how much snow?

How cold does it get in melbourne, australia in june, july, august?
There's no snow in Melbourne itself in winter. You can drive a couple of hours away to the mountains - falls creek, etc, if you want to see snow. It gets a bit fresh in the mornings, overnight lows of maybe 4C. If the sun comes out, it's usually pleasant - 20C... It hasn'r rained much over the last 10 or so winters. It can get hotter, not much colder though. I think the coldest high during the day would be about 15C.

Anyways, I hope that helps!

Have a look here, you may find a bit more detail.

http://www.weatherchannel.com.au/Magic94...
Reply:f you look at a good map you will see a line that runs across just above the centre of Australia from Rockhampton to western Australias pilbarra region. This is the line of the Tropic of Capricorn and all areas in Australia above that line are in The tropics. The tropics only has 2 seasons wet and dry the dry season is between April and September so June July and August are absolutly perfect for being anywhere up North. Brisbane and the Gold Coast are semi tropical . It can get cold at night but usually nice sunny days around that time of year. Perth can get cold in winter but not freezing Sydney melbourne and Canberra can get bitterly cold. Not so much Sydney . June july and August are so perfect for Cairns The great barrier reef The WhitSundays Darwin Broome and all those wonderful places up North.
Reply:Chilly, but if you're from outside of Australia you won't think it's so bad. Australians have a low tolerence for true cold!

North American winters that stay below zero and have several feet of snow are unheard of in Australia.

In Melbourne, expect daily highs around 12-16degrees celsius and lows around 4-8degrees celsius. Of course this is an average. On certain days it can get a lot colder or warmer than these averages. Also 4 seasons in one day is common.
Reply:I went and lived there for 3 years back in the early 1980's and I can tell you it's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey at that time of year.

The weather reports over there include a "wind chill factor" which is unheard of elsewhere in Australia.

This "wind chill factor" actually means that it is colder than it is.

I found ice on my car during those months and ice on the road too. It's scary stuff, but doesn't happen all winter thankfully.
Reply:For one... it doesn't snow in any of the mainland capital cities. Snow (in Australia), stays up in the mountains... where it belongs. So we don't get any snow in Melbourne. If you want to see snow in an Australian capital city... try Hobart. Otherwise, it snows in Canberra some times. Which is hard to believe given all the hot air there! LOL

As for cold... on the odd occasion, it can get down to -4*C overnight. And I mean "odd occasion"... like every seven or eight years or so.

More often than not though, the daytime low is in the single digits -- 4*C to 9*C. With the daytime high usually in the low- to mid-teens.
Reply:well i live near the beach(Franskton)..In winter June-September we can have temps of in between 3-15 max...

My niece lives in yarra Junction they have Mt Donna Buang right at their door-step..It is roughly 1 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne..

The best places for snow in Victoria are Mt Buller and Mt Baw Baw(Mt baw Baw is near Warrigal) 2 hrs from Melbourne...Really there are plenty of places in Victoria that get snow...

A link for the Ski Slopes of Victoria
Reply:Usually down to 3 or 4 Celsius, about 36 - 42 F. at night, up to 12C to 20 C during the day. No snow in M. (usually) but after the beginning of June may start falling in the ranges about 100k away. Some good skiing about 200 ks away.

Snow in my atic?

I purchased a new home in june 2005 . Yesterday I noticed water leaking from my kitchen cealing. I live in a 2 story cape code so I looked in my atic space above my kitchen on top of my blown in insulation there was a small pile of snow melting causing the leak what's the deal please help

Snow in my atic?
I love these questions. People ask me why I live in New Orleans!!!!! Your problem is geographical in nature. MOVE SOUTH Come on even the birds know. HAPPY MARDI GRAS Gotta go buy some fresh shrimp, and crabs, oh yea don't forget the crawfish!!!!Lais les bon temps roulle!!!!!!!!
Reply:You need to be a little better detective. Where is the snow? It is under a vent? If it is, check the vent to make sure that the vent is not broken. The vent should have slats that angle down. Did they install it upside down? If the snow is towards the outside edge it may have blown up under the eaves and through a vent there. Check the outside of the house, under the eave. Is there a vent there? Is it broken or loose? Or, is there a window in the attic space? Is it broken or ill fitting? Once you determine where the snow is located...then you can detect where is might have come in? If you had a very strong wind storm along with snow, it could have blown in a vent that is not in need of repair. Sometimes the wind simply blows hard enough to foil the vent.
Reply:You obviously have a whole in your roof somewhere. To the guy above talking about moving south...I see your point, but I will take a bit of snow over giant city-destroying hurricanes.
Reply:YOu could have a hole in the roof.
Reply:Hole. Opening in the roof or siding. Have an air vent in the siding? Loose shingles? Loose mortar along chimney base?

You will have to go up on the top of the roof and look around. Even with a strong blowing wind you should not have an entry for snow. A professional roofer might be able to pinpoint situation if you cannot locate opening.
Reply:My answer is the same as you asked this question before.
Reply:block up the holes where the snow is coming in.

What varieties of Apple trees would be best for a small orchard in my area?

I live in north eastern Montana about 50 miles south of the canadian border. Temperatures during the year go from 100 degrees in the summer to 40 degrees below zero in the winter. I have a couple of Praire Spy trees that seem to be doing alright but I want to have the biggest apples possible in the shortest growing period. It has been known to freeze here up to May 20th and it has snowed on the first of June some years.

What varieties of Apple trees would be best for a small orchard in my area?
'King' apples are big fruit and tough trees. Good keepers too.

Is the 'Prairie Spy' the same as a 'Northern Spy'? If not the 'Northern Spy' is a lovely apple...I'm not sure on it's cold tolerance.

According to my Sunset Western Gardener here are a few potential choices:

'Beverly Hills' , 'Honeycrisp' , recommended for Minnesotta,

'Norland', a Canadian special, 'Summerred', and 'Wealthy'.

Mmmm I love apples!!!
Reply:contact the experimental and research farm in Morden, Manitoba. they have been developing flowers, fruits and vegetables there for many decades that are specially meant for our harsh canadian climates.
Reply:I would contact the local extension agency. They will be able to tell you what will thrive in your area. Another good place would be a large local nursery or even a local orchard if there is one. It sounds like your growing span is short, so good luck with your hunt for a good variety of apple.

We are planting apple trees in 2007, and our climate is great for lots of varieties, and we have chosen mutsu and jonagold.

Reply:Himachal is situated in the western Himalayas. Covering an area of 55,780 kilometres (34,660 mi),[1] Himachal Pradesh is a mountainous state with elevation ranging from about 350 metres (1,148 ft) to 6,000 metres (19,685 ft) above the sea level.[10]

River Beas near Manali. The drainage system of Himachal is composed both of rivers and glaciers. Himalayan rivers criss-cross the entire mountain chain. In fact the rivers are older than the mountain system. [11] Himachal Pradesh provides water to both the Indus and Ganges basins.[12] The drainage systems of the region are the Chandra Bhaga or the Chenab, the Ravi, the Beas, the Sutlej and the Yamuna. These rivers are perennial and are fed by snow and rainfall. They are protected by an extensive cover of natural vegetation. [12]

There is great variation in the climatic conditions of Himachal due to extreme variation in elevation. The climate varies from hot and sub-humid tropical in the southern tracts to cold, alpine and glacial in the northern and eastern mountain ranges with more elevation.[13] The state has areas like Dharamsala that receive very heavy rainfall, as well as those like Lahaul and Spiti that are cold and almost rainless. Broadly Himachal experience three seasons; hot weather season, cold weather season and rainy season. Summer lasts from mid April till the end of June and most parts become very hot (except in alpine zone which experience mild summer) with the average temperature ranging from 28 °C (82 °F) to 32 °C (90 °F).[14] Winter lasts from late November till mid March. Snowfall is common in alpine tracts (generally above 2,200 metres (7,218 ft) i.e. in the Higher and Trans-Himalayan region).[

It was at Jwalamukhi that, as the legend says, Adishakti, known as Sati or Parvati, was born out of flames when the trinity prayed to the superpower for help. She grew up in the house of Prajapathi Daksha and later became the consort of Lord Shiva. Pandavas built the first temple here. Ashtabhuja temple, one km away, is an ancient place of worship. Chaumukha, 22 km, is a Shiva temple with a four-faced image.

Panj Teerth and Mahakaleshwar, 9 km, are two sacred places situated on the banks of the Beas. Palampur (1249 mts) is a major station in Kangra valley. The region has several tea gardens. Kangra tea is world famous. The famous Kangra fort is 27 km away. Palampur is 545 km from Delhi. Baijnath, 15 km away from Palamur, has a temple where Shiva is worshipped as Vaidyanath, the lord of physicians. It is a famous pilgrim centre. Ravana is said to have worshipped Shiva for immortality here. Palampur has some good trekking routes.

The nearest airports are Gaggi in Kangra and Bhuntar near Kullu.

Joginder Nagar offers facilities for trekking and fishing. Macchiyal is a sacred lake dedicated to Machendru Devta. The Bassi power house area is a good picnic spot. There is a trout breeding centre at the reservoir of the power project. Across Uhl is Nargu wildlife sanctuary. Trekking, hang-gliding and para-gliding facilities are available in Barot which is also the best place for angling in Himachal Pradesh

If you have already seen the movie in Japanese, what do you think will happen to it?

If you havent, what are your thoughts/expectations about it?

Im pretty excited for this movie :D Especially when i get to laugh at the bad voice actors XD I swear, they shouldve just gotten the original Japanese voice actors and made them speak english XD The voice actors are too.. AMERICAN!! They sound so weird and.. bad!! They might as well call Sakura Socka or Sasuke Sah-Soup-Kay!!!!

What are your thoughts on Naruto Movie 1 coming out in english in June 2007 (this year)?
O.o its getting dubbed...well it might have this huge "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGITS GETTING TO SHOW!!! YAY!!" like the big FMA movie, though I originally expected the FMA movie to come out on theaters...(yes...I'm so pathetic) so the reaction might be the same. Even though everybody will make a big "omgomgomgomgomg" way with it...I don't think to many people would bother to buy it...

LMAO!! I am also excited now that we might be able to watch the movie dubbed, free by Cartoon Network (and just laugh about the bad voice actors, knowing that this movie is free to us). I think that Naruto will be Na-RU-TO (with a flow like 'noodle') and Sakura will be Sa-kur-a (like CardCaptors Sakura dubbed)...and Saskay...lmao
Reply:OMFG!!!!!!!!!!! I CANT FREAKEN WAIT!!!!!!!!!
Reply:i hope it's better then that clip u'd showed.
Reply:HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Naruto is gay but thats my thought i think its is just becoming the next pokemon and never like it but when there older its ok but now they look there fing 8 years old and act gayer than crap but i like serious anime like samurai x
Reply:XD

I just hope that they don't mess up the editing; there was a lot of bloodshed in one scene.

Places of interest in Sydney during late May, early June? Am planning a 9 day trip there. Good food tips too?

Am travelling there with my family of five (4 adults, 1 kid) from 3rd to 10th June. Am familiar with the city itself but planning to go to places such as Hunter Valley, Blue Mountain, Port Stephens etc? Are these places open and interesting during winter?

Wonder if I'm able to go skiing anywhere near Sydney ie does it snow then?

Lastly, within the city, are the benches still open and do ppl do there in June? Understand that the weather is pretty cold now but thinking of going to places like Bondi and Congee.

Any contacts/numbers to call would be helpful as well.

Many thanks to all who will be replying!

G'day,

Theres plenty of places to go %26amp; things to see in and around Sydney in June. You might want to see about climbing the harbour bridge. (www.bridgeclimb.com) The Blue Mountains are beautiful just about any time of year, I suggest you visit the three sisters look out.

If you want to ski the snowy mountains are the place to go. Try Thredbo or other ski resorts nearby.

The beaches are open however most are not manned by life guards in winter. However it is a bit cold for swimming anyway.

Another interesting place to visit is The Rocks in the CBD, which has a lot of Australian/Sydney history including the Argyle Cut (a huge tunnel that was carved by hand by convicts in the early days of Sydney).

For good food.... well pretty much anywhere in Sydney depending on what it is your looking for. If you like Thai try Newtown, Italian go to Leichardt, theres many other great restaurants all around sydney from Japanese to Lebanese to Korean to good ol' Aussie meat pies at Harry's Cafe de Wheels in Wooloomooloo.

Hope you have fun in Sydney.
Reply:Here's a good website for you to look at www.visitnsw.com.au . It has all the information you need to plan your trip.... Hope you have a fun time!!

Why do Canadians think we get no snow in the UK?

I moved from Scotland to Canada in June for a year, and pretty much every1 I talk to thinks that I have never seen snow before, some people are even stunned to hear me say it snows in Scotland, I tell them we have 4 seperate ski resorts in Scotland and that it can even sometimes snow in May/June(and not only in the mountains). I'm in Winnipeg at the moment, and people were amazed to hear that it had snowed in my home town of Penicuik before it snowed in Scotland. Do most Canadians not really know world geography and that the uk is further north than most of the large cities in Canada?

Why do Canadians think we get no snow in the UK?
People only know what they know. If they haven't been presented with the fact that it snows in the UK then they don't know it or don't think about it. When you think of most of the television and movie productions you'd think that it doesn't snow anywhere except in Russia and the Canadian arctic. Or that it only snows in the UK for dramatic effect.

Most Canadians know their world geography and know that the UK's climate is moderated by the Gulf Stream so they don't really expect too much snow in the UK. Also BTW are those 4 ski resorts on real snow (man made or otherwise) or are they on the ski mats like they are on some hills in England?
Reply:Don't lump all Canadians together. I'm Canadian and know it snows in the UK. Why do people in other countries think it snows in Canada all year round? Most likely they've never been to that country.

And as far as Canadians being dumb compared to Americans. We won't even go there
Reply:I don't know anyone who thinks that in Canada

As for the guy who said canadians are dumb lol

I met an american who was convinved in england they do not speak ENGLISH and they think we live in igloos in canada year round ...

americans know how to dish insults I see but they can not take it !!

their are idiots in every country and becasue you talked to a small group you think all canadians that way lol

I thought people in the UK were much smarter than that(oops sorry they are ...just some individuals are not )
Reply:Lmfao... Simply_me : I've never actually heard of an american making fun of canadians for a lack of knowledge in regards to geography... Its been totally unprecedented until now...

I wouldn't expect it to snow to the same extent as some parts of Canada ie. Newfoundland, where you can get 20 feet of snow... but yeah I would expect most normal Canadians would know that you do get snow... I mean to be fair, you were asking people in Winnipeg...
Reply:With some of the storms that arise on the North Atlantic and the North Sea, I've always assumed and am not surprised that the UK will get its fair share of snow.

However, when I visited London several years ago, I was told that the amount of snow that the UK gets cannot compare to what some of their neighbours get in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and of course Russia. And it does not stay for near as long as in Canada, where we get snow stays generally from December to April each year and that's at close to sea level. It seems that Scotland gets the snow, but rarely at the lower levels, and it only stays for a few days. And places like London rarely do get any snow that will accumulate.

So perhaps the Canadians you spoke to who thought you may have never seen snow before are under that impression because they have spoken to people from London, or perhaps they meant you've never seen AS MUCH snow as they get in a single storm in Winnipeg.

Regardless, I would not take offense to it. I know many people who come to Canada and think that a lot of us live in igloos and that they have to worry about grizzly and polar bear attacks just outside cities like Montreal and Toronto.
Reply:some people I imagine think since UK is an island it must be tropical and never get snow...which is pretty ignorant of people to think but I have a feeling some do think this way.
Reply:hmm oh. well i guess you met a few dumb ones lol... im only 15 and im aware it snows in the UK i mean, thats where santa came from right, they have to have snow for the slay. and all the old x-mas movies are from the UK, and its snowing.. lol i kinda thought it was obvious... just look how far north the UK is from the Equator
Reply:From an American who lived in Winnipeg for many years... As has been said already, you've just met a few uninformed Canadians, and a couple of uninformed Texans. Don't generalize. The Canadians you've met have the same reason as those who think Canada has snow all year! Many people in North America tend to think of Great Britain as a place of beautiful gardens and green fields, and don't bother to think of anything else. Forgive us all, as I have forgiven Canadians for all their anti-American twaddle.
Reply:they were probably just uninformed, when you hear about the UK snow usually dosen't come up into conversations.

What can you do in Vacouver/Whistler besides golfing and snow related activies?

We're going in June..My husband, our daughter and me...We're staying in Vancouver. Whistler looks like a beautiful place but being from the deep south, we do not ski or snowboard and neither of us play golf. We enjoy sightseeing, dining out and going for long walks...Any suggestions for both Vancouver and Whistler will be appreciated. Can you make it to Whistler and back to Vancouver in 1 day trip? Are there any dinner trains? We love doing that sort of thing. Can you ride a ski lift up the mountain just to check out the view? Please don't laugh at my questions...

What can you do in Vacouver/Whistler besides golfing and snow related activies?
You can go to Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is there. That is a really neat place to go. You can also search on google.ca and find a list of neat places to visit. =]
Reply:Whistler and Blackcomb village have become an all season resort, no longer known as just a ski destination. During the summer months you can hike, mountain bike, ride horses on trails, canoe, fly fish, roller blade, golf, etc. They also have some really high end restaurants and great specialty shops. Whistler and Blackcomb have a really good website to check out:

http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/index.h...

Are you looking for a local train package? Rocky Mountaineer is currently in operation. BC Rail's dinner train is now defunct.

http://www.rockymountaineer.com/

Yes, to both Whistler and Vancouver, you can take a ride up the mountains to just enjoy the view. In Vancouver I highly recommend taking the gondola up Grouse mountain on a clear evening, eat at their restaurant and enjoy the amazing panoramic view of the city of Vancouver and watch a spectacular sunset over the Gulf and Vancouver Islands.

Enjoy your trip to Vancouver and Whistler!

Cheers,

Petra, Vancouver
Reply:well you don't have to go to whistler to get a great view, take a picnic lunch to stanley park, check out the vancouver aquarium, the planetarium, science world, go to the valley and see fort langley, take a trip out to harrison hotsprings or spend a day at the pacific national exhibition (p.n.e.) and playland which has a midway and stuff. you could make it to whistler and back in one day but why not stay the night?? there is also cultus lake if you are more interested in water. all of these things are in and around vancouver. thee is also capilano suspension bridge and lynn valley canyon. ahh i could go on and on.

i hope these helped you out and enjoy your trip.
Reply:why don't you do a search online to find out the activities available. if not, when you arrive there that day, there will be tons of brochures for you to see and decide what you wanna do.
Reply:Hiking, biking, wandering around the village and shopping.

Yes, it's an easy trip between Whistler and Vancouver. Many people commute to work. There are dinner trains on special occasions, but not as a regular feature - but this will likely be something you will see in the future, as they have had this service in previous years but had to suspend it temporarily. You can ride a ski lift up the mountain, and take a camera with you - the views are spectacular.

You can also boat in Howe Sound, visit Britannia (a mining museum located half way between Whistler and Vancouver) and there are endless things to do in Vancouver, ranging from water activities to visiting the zoo, visiting Chinatown, visiting Science World, the Maritime Museum, or just enoying the beaches. Biking is really great in Vancouver, especially along the Kitsilano beach to UBC beach.

Nothing to laugh at in your questions - they're all very sound and I hope all three of you have a wonderful vacation in June.

There's a great website at HelloBC.com that you might enjoy.
Reply:In June all our skiing, snowboarding and winter activities are pretty much over for the season. Whistler is a village that has shopping and entertainment year round, but be prepared it is very very expensive there. Vancouver is beautiful and has a great deal to offer any tourist. I suggest you try our SeaBus, which takes you from the waterfront in Vancouver across the ocean to North Vancouver. It is breathtaking! And hopefully our beautiful Stanley Park which suffered some damage from several wind storms this past winter will be open again to the public so you can stroll the sea wall. Enjoy your trip.
Reply:It sounds like you would enjoy more urban activities than the great outdoors. The previous answers had covered most of the Whishler areas stuff. The train ride east bound to Banff is a leisurely ride with transfer but it's costly.

I believe you will have a much better time in Victoria, which is located on the Vancouver island. There is a good variety of activities on Vancouver island ranging from the tourist tour to the adventurist. Many of which are done on foot. See the official links below for details.
Reply:Check tourismvancouver,, tourismbc..Rocky moutaineer will be running trains to whistler day trips.vancouver has dinner yahts. There is a free bus around Stanley Park. To sight see get a day pass on transit Vancouver has the second largest China town in North america. Grandville island is nice.Take the godola up to Grouse Mountain A free Imax show is worth the ride.

Snow in atic space help?

I purchased a new home in june 2005 . Yesterday I noticed water leaking from my kitchen cealing. I live in a 2 story cape code so I looked in my atic space above my kitchen on top of my blown in insulation there was a small pile of snow melting causing the leak what the deal please help

Snow in atic space help?
Sometimes dry snow can blow in through your gable or soffit vents(usually were one roof line meets another) If you go up there during daylight and turn off the inside light you will probably see light (and feel a draft) were the snow is blowing in from. You will then want to block that area from the outside.

This happens in most houses from time to time when snow and wind factors are just right and often goes unnoticed. Good luck
Reply:What's the deal? It sounds pretty obvious there is an obvious hole in your roof for free snow to enter. When you looked in the attic did you look up above the snow at the roof? The only other place of entry other than a leak could be from a vent in the roof which are installed to prevent moisture build up in the attic as well as vent in the summer to eliminate heat build up. These kind of vents still should not allow snow to enter. Go up in the attic in the daytime with the entry closed and see if you can see light appearing anywhere in the roof obviously above where the snow showed up, good hunting.
Reply:I would first get a wet vac and remove the snow, It has to be coming from a roof vent if the house is a 2005 the builder should be responsible most new home construction comes with a 5 year warranty, If not you should consult with a roofer they should be able to make the proper corrections in-expensively.
Reply:You need to reinsulate your attic and waterproof it, this time.
